At All God's Children, we are passionate about children progressing according to their ability. Each child in our grade school has a program developed for their needs. The A beka curriculum is used for our pre-school and kindergarten classes. For frist through sixth grades, we implement a Classical Curriculum and use many of the text book and curriculum suggestions outlined in Jesse Weise's book The Well Trained MindWe also use the Konos and Sonlight curriculum materials to augment our studies.

This curriculum is rich in classic literature, the arts, music, math and science. Classic literature, readers, and poetry are introduced to encourage development of English grammar, vocabulary, and literary style. Children are introduced to abridged versions of Greek mythology, Shakespeare, and other classic writers. As they progress, abridged versions are replaced with original texts. History lessons are often taught or enriched with literature.

Children are brought together for History/Geography, Bible, and Science. A topic is introduced and each child is given a follow-on assignment commensurate with their ability.

bulletYounger students may be asked to color or sketch a picture, write or dictate a few sentences or give a short oral report.
bulletStudents in the middle grades may be asked to read an abridged biography, write a few paragraphs describing what they learned, give an oral report, paint a picture, or perform an enactment.
bulletJr. High students may be asked to read more about the topic, write a page or two on the topic, prepare a short play, design a web page, or develop an art project on the topic.

Each child is held accountable for progressing in math, spelling, English grammar, reading, and languages. Self-discipline is a natural outcome of the Classical Curriculum.

Children are encouraged to explore individual interests. Time is given to practice music, dance, art, crafts, scouting and other activities.
